I have a shamrock hybrid and recently had to replace the front
bed end, due to leakage. Mabe its time for a refresher course for me
on closing the beds. I started removing the mattesses for a better
seal. Any other tips would be appreciated, Thanks
I have a 2011 Roo 19. The front bunk leaked late into its first camping year. I checked everything I thought was possible to figure out why it was leaking. I used a piece of electrical conduit to see if the bed was warped, checked all of the screws around the bed frame to assure none had started backing out, checked all of the hinge screws to make sure everything was seated correctly. I had wiped down both inner and outer seals before I had left on the last trip so surely that couldn't have been it, wrong. I decided just make to make sure I would wipe them again with 303 and found that two insects had crawled inside of the top front bed platform seal and that was just enough to cause it to leak. Once I removed the insects I tested it with a hose but it didn't rain again until after the camping season so just to assure that the insects were the problem I took it to the dealer for warranty. Five and a half months later when we were able to pick the camper up everything was dry. The dealer tested it for six minutes with a hose but it had rained several times while they had it and since we got it home and so far so good.
Which way should the rubber flap be? folded "in" toward the inside of the camper, or "out" toward the hinge?
Also, never heard of removing mattresses - where did you read that?

My wife watches the seal while I close from inside. Being tall, I can run my hand along the door to make sure no tenting is in the way just before it closes. We're supposed to (and we do) remove the mattresses when closing and put them back up once closed, held in by bungee cords.
I've also found the aluminum door frameing a little bent, bowing out in the center or at the 2 ends. This of course leaves part of the seal loose, it bent back fairly easily. Aluminum isn't the strongest of materials.

other than not getting the canvas caught in the seals when closing, there's not much else to suggest.
we all have our own particular way to do it but as long as the seals are clear, there should be no other issues.
we don't remove the mattress but ours has snaps and straps to keep it attached to the bunk door.
you might want to visit RVW's video library and watch the Roo videos.
i think there are a couple of them that shows setup and take down of the bunk ends.

The flap on mine points in towards the camper, if it gets folded over water gets by when driving.
I have to remove the mattresses wen closing, then they are folded and put into place against the bunk doors. I'm taking it from your answer that yours are attached. Guess mine is now dated.
On our 03 Dutchmen we remove the mattresses and the. Hang them by the bungee after we've folded up. Our mattresses do not attach to the doors so they have to be removed before folding.
