Yes, I have bought Fram filters from WalMart, but no longer.
Heh heh heh. Nice.
So are you saying that you prefer those "great" Fram filters you get at Napa instead?
Well... they're all yours.
FWIW... I don't trip about our little Jap engines. But the ol' 454 gets Wix.
Who do you think manufactures NAPA Gold....Yep, good old Wix. They are one of the primary filter manufacturers in the US and most auto parts retail stores that have a store brand filter, are made by Wix. I do agree that I won't use a Fram filter, though it is NOT a Walmart brand filter.

Not sure what your point or attitude is, but no, I haven't use a Fram filter in years. I do use the NAPA Gold filter, which is a Wix filter and made in the USA.
I personally have no opinion or experience with the Walmart oil. I won't enter the fray other than to point out that the standards are a minimum. All oils are not equal. I once read a very detailed laboratory study on motorcycle specific oils where all components/ingredients of the oils were determined and listed. Even though all oils in the test met the minimum there were huge differences in the makeup of the oil.
You can search for Motorcycle Consumer News oil test.

I was aware of that, yes. Rather than state "CarQuest" or "Napa Gold," I simply stated "Wix" as all encompassing.
My current RV filter is the CarQuest version.
In response to byates, I used Napa as an example for any auto parts store that sells Fram. He was asked if he had ever used a "Walmart" filter and he came back with a Walmart Fram... when clearly the subject was the Walmart "Supertech" filters... which... on bobistheoilguy.com... the general consensus is that they are made by Champion and... at least better than Fram.

bmet2000 my dad used Fram for years so a few years ago due to all the web noise about Fram dug into the subject and now have no fear of the product. I do lean to WIX for the most part but have found the top grade Fram to sometimes have better specs than WIX.
Fram posts are on the same level as anti WM threads. An honest person would not compare a $3 filter to a $7 oil fiter.
Many of the Youtube shots for Fram filters had to have 20K miles on them from the level of crud in them.
I remember dad adding a Fram filter system to our new like 1960 Chevy Biscayne because it was a special order option on that car so I guess a filter in complete by-pass mode is not the end of the world.
If you're doing 3000 mile intervals in a modern, Japanese engine... I don't think it matters much.
Back in the day, you were only supposed to use Toyota filters with the check valve. But things have changed.
My mechanic is a retired Toyota Master Mechanic of 25 years who now still tends to a few cars out of his garage. He suggested Walmart for oil changes. It's easy to send the Mrs. there so she can do some shopping while the work is being done. Brilliant strategy, Sam!
My '86 Winnebago has over 100K. So at this point... I'm inclined to baby her. And if an extra $4 a year for a quality filter helps me sleep at night...
I haven't used any WM branded oil yet, but I intend to. As for Made in the USA Fram, their premium filters do have check valves. I have one in my Jeep, and just bought another Fram Tough Guard.
