I don't drive a Titan, nor did I ever mention that truck, although one would think a fair comparison would be to include it and the Tundra. Thanks for the heads up, the Cath Lab is just across the parking lot in case I need a stent......

But lets still keep in mind that the Ford only has a 3.5L V6 under the hood not a 5.7L . So if you want to really talk about a "FAIR" comparison then get all the MFG's 1/2 ton trucks with there best V6 power plant and line them up next to the Ecoboost and we can see what happens! And to be "FAIR" take the turbos off of the Ecoboost.

Hmm seems to me Ford 3.7 liter n/a V6 was waxing the 5.3 V8 in acceleration...I don't think the 4.3 liter V6 would put up any real challenge.

Exactly. We don't need an ecoboost sticky....there's more posts I would venture to say on either the Ford diesels, Dodge Cummins or GM Duaramax.

This is like getting angry because concrete is hard!
I mean seriously, can someone explain to me why the Ecoboost causes so much emotion in people who aren't interested in one?
I don't see anybody threatened at all.
The EcoBoost V6 is a good engine, but Buick was there before....the old 3.8 Turbo V6 in the '80's.
Now the Buick wasn't a truck....but the idea...tons of torque and HP from a relatively small turbocharged engine...that could do the work of a larger engine....and do it with reliability.
The Buick GNX put many a big hi performance V8 on the trailer.
I do think with technology increasing all the time that we haven't seen anything yet in years to come.
Quite excited with every new or revitalized, twist that comes along in internal combustion engine technology.
Also I don't think Ford is finished yet with the ecoboost V6...I'm anticipating they will have a DoD...displacement on demand...soon....which will enable the engine to run on 3 cylinders under light load.

but you are excited about future technology. I have seen people 'spitting' mad at the assertion that the ecoboost might be a viable alternative for some buyers to more traditional half ton drivetrains. Just doesn't make sense to me, get mad about things that actually matter.

The EB a good engine? So far so good. Better than the competition? No.
Each engine offered in all of the 1/2 tonners are doing just what their designers need them to do. I'm figuring you must not have seen this video.
What a Joke!
Hay Ford if your going to post a doctored video at least do it right ! Stop the video @ 0:51 and it shows the Ram just at the rear of the Fords trailer at the finish line. But at frame 1:26 the Ram is showed out of frame as the Ford crosses the line the Ram crosses 3.2 sec later. That as bad as the the old Tundra commercials.
Lets look at the facts.
1: Ford rates it @ 22 MPG for a V-6 twin turbo
2: The Ram 2012 is rated @ 21 MPG for a proven V-8 and for 2013 it gets bumped to 24 MPG. Hello that bets 22 doesn't it.
3: Fastest off the line, 1/4 mile and barley to the top yep they do have those bragging rights.
4: I have to wounder what the Ram would do with a very mild tuner?
So if you want to smoke someone off the line with a stock truck to give yourself an EgoBoost, then get yourself a Ford F-150 EB. Me I'll take me smelly ole diesel 2500 that's makes better mileage all day every day thank you very much.
Don
ON Edit: Fact 5: Ford does boast the best in class towing and paylaod numbers for the 1/2 ton segment!

I was looking these up the other day for a friend in the market:
2012 Ram MPG
The 25mpg is for the V6 cargo van not 8 according to the site. 20 is the highest I see in the trucks. I HOPE the big 3 go back and forth making improvements each year... it's pretty amazing what they're capable of now-a-days.
edit: I can't find a site to nail down the 2013 lineup mpg but read lots of material saying they will be best in class.

Now we are talking about a 3.7L V6? I thought the discussion was comparing everything to the egoboost?
