These animals are truly amazing at times aren't they?

As far as why your board cooked and didn't shut off?
I had a converter in my MH catch fire. 'Should' have shut off also.
Someone blocked the fan, which overheated it, the breaker didn't blow all the way which = fire!

All the neighbor campers heard that morning was a scream of FIRE and then dogs and crates being thrown out the side door!

Give your cat some more treats he's a hero!

WOW! WTG Piper!!! I don't know what we'd do without all our furbabies! Not only do they keep us sane, give us more love than we deserve, they also work to keep us safe!

I'm not a pet person but you need to give that cat a nice treat, whatever it is that cats love!

She's definitely earned her keep. I saved her life when she was only a couple weeks old. Found her at the bottom of a 6" pipe about 3 feet below the top of the ground with her head just above the water. Just a tiny little thing all wet and freezing cold. So I guess she's paid me back in spades.

This is her when I found her a few years ago.

Wow, that's scary! When we were working Red Cross disasters, we every so often had a client with a house fire that started in a computer. I always wondered how that happened. Our own UPS units must be 8 or 9 years old. How would a person know they were bad, unless you smelled that overheated wiring smell? Good kitty! A new catnip mouse for Piper!

Black cats are lucky & smart! Good job, Piper!

Your story hits close to home ... our main electrical panel in an outside shed had a failing 200A breaker (feeding the house). The breaker wasn't tripping, just sparking & smoking. I wondered why my washer kept going off & lights kept flickering. Checked the panel ...
