I enjoy videos on uTube for entertainment, but I'm getting really tired of product videos, meant to walk you through the setup, merits, technical description, etc. of a product. Usually I want to know perhaps 10-20% of the information in the video, but end up having to watch the whole thing. It's a waste of time. I could have much more quickly and easily read a product brochure or description to find out what I want to know, but increasingly those aren't even being provided.

Oh well. I guess someone out there likes them.

I don't understand why anyone wastes time watching/reading anything that they don't like or aren't interested in?

If you are upset for wasting time watching "product videos," ....don't watch them.

If you are upset that manufacturers are not providing hard copy manuals...then I agree with you. I like manuals.

Obviously, I wouldn't watch it if I wasn't interested in the product. Hopefully also obviously, I wouldn't watch it if they provided an alternative means of getting the same information. More and more, they're not.

A recent example (but certainly not the only one): The new Anderson WD/anti-sway hitch. To find out, for instance, how they're controlling sway (brake pad material inside a tapered cylinder in which the ball sits) you have to watch the video.

I also wish they would have paper manuals. Ex: My Thunderbolt android phone. I was told to download the manual from the internet. Too big to print and carry and when I have a question about the phone I am not always in front of the computer. A small print manual would be great.

I have gone many times to U-Tube to find instructions on stuff. My husband built a canoe dolly by watching how to do it on U-Tube.

I recently went to Youtube in search of video descriptions of vacuum cleaners and how they actually do the job.
Some videos are produced by the manufacturers which will not show any short comings.
On the other hand, personal experience videos are better, because they show "Real Life" defects. Problem is that too many personal videos are so poorly done that it's a waste of time, not to mention the RAP music which accompanies them and over rides the voice. Either make a Music video or a product video, make up your mind.

They need a separate section on Youtube for Moronic stuff.
