We are on our way to getting a 5th wheel now. We sold our 1994 Class C Minnie Winnie. I listed it on Sunday and the first looker agreed to buy it on Wednesday. We transferred the title today. As we didn't owe anything, I could afford to be reasonable on the price.
Next step is to bring home the boat and get it ready to sell. Like the motor home, we don't owe anything and I am hoping we can move it quickly too. We really don't use it that much.
We are really looking forward to the Hershey RV show this fall. We went last year and really got bitten by the 5th Wheel bug.
Over the next several months you will see me trolling the site looking for info on different models and learning what to look for in our next 5er.

For us, the truck is going to be a factor since we already have it. It is a 2008 Ford F250 Diesel. We are already finding that weights are going to be a factor. All the 5er's we like are right at or over the hitch weight. I have no plans to upgrade the truck as it is almost paid for (I think we owe about $4k on it).
I am considering installing the R4tech suspension on the truck to help with the hitch weight. I need to research it a bit more since I was also considering the B&W turnover ball and companion hitch. Let the fun begin.

With an F-250 anything over 30 feet will probably put you over your max gross weight on the rear axle.

Take a look at the payload stickedr on the drivers door post. Like me, I suspect you will be surprised how little your F250 can haul. Remember:
1) the hitch wweighs about 200 pounds
2) The pin weight is dry (does not include propoane, battery, stuff you put in 5th wheel)
3) Consider what you haul in the ruck too (tools, etc..)
Once all this was factored in we had to stay below 1400 pounds of dry ppin weight to stay within (or not too much over) the GVWR of our 2010 F250 CC Diesel, 2WD. Had ours been a 4WD, we would have been looking at 1000 pound pin weight 5th wheels. These 250s just cannot carry too much...

As said above "DON'T" go by Dry pin weight, and yes go weigh your truck so you know what payload/pin weight/payload remaining you have to work with. As a general rule without weighing the trailer full (batteries, water, propane, cloths, kitichen stuff etc) use 20% of the trailers GVWR to get a rough estimate of the loaded pin weight.
Above all DON'T believe any salesperson that says "YES" you can tow it! Do your own evaluation/calculations.
Above all enjoy the looking experience.
