Is there any alternative to this step support that I currently use but find a little cumbersome?
http://www.campingworld.com/shopping/product/stabil-step-jacks/5416
Is there any product perhaps designed like a keyboard bench (but smaller dimensions of course) that is completely adjustable and folds flat? Keyboard bench example:

I saw from other posts that some carry a bottle jack, but I don't want anything that heavy. Any other kind of jack or jack stand that would be appropriate and easy to store?

I made one for my 3 step system. I made it from 2 X 6 wood. Simply cut 2 pieces appx. 8 - 10 inches long. Then cut one end of one piece on a 45% angle. Lay one piece flat and stand the other piece with the 45% angle on its side down the middle of the flat piece and attach the two with wood screws. You can then slide the completed product under the step for support. The angle end allows for height variation due to different clearence distances. I actually made 2 and put one under each side of the bottom step. (Caution - be sure to remove them from under the lower step before you allow the step to retract!)

Janss,
While you might find it a bit cumbersome, without a doubt, it's the easiest to use and does the exact job you want it to do. The good part is that depending on how and where you camp, it's adjustable with a wide range. I presently carry two, that camping world version and a taller one that I made myself that works the exact same way. There are sometimes when it just so happens that the front end is a bit higher and, that taller version works better. I also carry those Camping world yellow "Lego" blocks that are stack-a-ble. Together, one or two of those Legos and either one of the step supports and it's a "Rock".

Here is a post following yours that would seem to work for you as well.
Step Support
It is adjustable in any location too.
I hope this helps.

In a pinch those little orange leveling blocks work great too.

I use the one that you linked from Camping World and find it works great. I know they also make that version that mounts to the bottom of the step and just folds up so you don't have to store it seperately. I can't think of any option that is less cumberson then that. The folding version is no more work then the idea you show from Amazon.

I used jetenbu's idea about 5 years ago. works great. I bolted a small jack to the steps and leave it right there.

Thanks for all your replies.
I did see Dick's post with pictures after I posted mine. It looks like a good idea.

Why do you need a support under your steps? I was 295# and never used a support. Now I am 235 and still don't use a support. My Kwikee steps are still sound and solid and 9 years old.

To make the steps feels more solid to my partner whose feet are numb and who has poor balance.
