For some stupid reason I had both of the keys to my house on my key chain. I'm pretty sure I misplaced the keys in the house, but I can't find them. I need to take the locks to a locksmith for new keys. If my garage door opener doesn't work I am in trouble. Good thing I have an automatic standby generator.
I got a free key locker that mounts on the wall from work. I am going to mount it and keep all my spare keys in there so I don't lose them. I can't even imagine how much it would cost for a new key for my Dodge Caravan.

The Caravan with the FOBIT is about $200-250 per key w/programming.
After hearing all the sob stories at work, I have to admit I DID make more copies of house, RV, etc and hid them here and there just in case.
I also bought new padlocks that I rekeyed to match my house keys. Less keys to worry about.

Though I happen to be a rather good "B&E Auto" man and can open MOST cars, (And my motor home) without a key,,,,,
I learned long ago.. I have a key ring in my right hand pocket, and one in the left BOTH have door (And car ignition) keys, (The right one also has the motor home igintiion) Wife has a key ring, all keys, I use a "Stand alone" key to actually start the motor home (Car died) and should I lock all three keys inside, there is a realtor's box firmly attached, you push the proper buttons and remove the door key from inside.
On a motor home or 5-er you have a great spot for a realtor's box..
Propane compartment.
Note this info does you no good without the magic number.
Nothin adds excitment like something that is none of your business

Huuuum! Dog... collar....house key
I've managed to lock myself out a few times over the years. Once it was cold and all I had on was PJs. Glad neighbor hadn't went to work already.

I like the idea of a house and car key hanging around the neck, like dog tags.
Have them gold plated so they look decorative.

I live in a state that doesn't believe in locks. The door from the garage to the kitchen is not locked. The car sits in the driveway with the garage door opener in it. The car is not locked and the keys are in the ignition. Every day the person goes out for a jog at the same time. They go out through the garage and press the button for the door to close. When they get back, they open the car and hit the button to open it and go in and take a shower.
One day they return home to find the car is gone and the house has been robbed. The police can find no signs of forced entry. And the idiot is standing around scratching their head trying to figure out how it happened. These are the people that expect the government to take care of them.

I have a friend that drives a roll back tow truck for AAA. One day he got a call to go unlock a car. He gets to where the car is and the lady says the key fob has died and she can't get in. She tried new batteries in it and everything. She is pushing and pushing the button on the key fob and nothing is happening. He looks at the key fob and says " But lady, isn't that the car key attached to the key fob ?". She turns several shades of red and unlocks her car door with the key.
