So we picked up the TT today, and the dealer setup the Reese DC and it towed like a dream, beautiful! Honestly it felt like a 5k boat! Anyway I got to the camp site, backed in perfect, got the setup started and ooops, can't get TV from TT to level. I had to use the truck jack to get the sway bars off (yes I had the chains loosed already but the sway bars wouldn't budge). So the sway bars are now off, but i was literally lifting the back of my truck damn near off the ground and the TT would not release the TV. Ill mess with it in the morn, but I guess there are worse problems to have. Anyway, here I sit unlevel. If you have secrets or tips on how to get a TT free from a TV ball, pls do share....I've jacked, pulled he truck up and back, jumped on it, banged on it, fussed it then cussed it; to no avail...

Make sure all of the tongue weight is back on the truck. If the tongue jack is lifting any weight at all the coupler will not let go of the ball.

Did you release the brakes on the tv? Might need to throw a little lube on the ball and components.

Did you open the hitch latch?

1.) Put all the weight on the truck, jack slightly off the ground
2.) unlatch coupler
3.) jack trailer off hitch

That happened to me for the first time when I dropped the TT off at the storage lot. I had to raise it up a bit to get the coupler off, and then jumped up and down on it a few times to pop the ball loose.

Go to the lumber yard and ask them to cut you 12"x12" block of wood about 12" long. Put it under your trailer jack before you start to lower it. The extra 12 inches of height should easly get your trailer unhooked from your truck. Screw a metal handle to the end of the block to make it easier to move around.

I've had to use a some persuasion to get the W/D bars off on my rig, as well as some jumping action on the back of the pickup to dislodge it. I'd say it is par for the course until the hitch is broken in more.

DH has the same problem with our new TT. He makes sure it's jacked up high enough and gets on truck and bounces it up and down until it releases. Good Luck.

I've had to whack the trailer tongue with a hammer to free things up before (with the trailer firmly dis-weighted off of the hitch). After it's free grease everything up and you should be fine.
