It's simple
jack it up and remove the weight distribution bars.
Then jack it back down all the way - Remove the safety pin from the hitch, (if it is stuck, tap it with a hammer). Then make sure the coupler latch is open and jack it back up again. That will relieve the pressure and it should come right off.
I have to do that lots of times

This happens often to lots of people. Don't worry - you'll work it out.

Your TV is putting too much pressure on the safety latch to allow it to release. Remove the WD bars. Then if your TV is in Reverse, put it in Drive. That little bit of forward movement will remove the pressure. If the TV is in Drive when you're stuck, put it in Reverse. Same thing. On my trailer, I don't drop the tongue jack before I switch gears, but I put the latch in the open position. Once the latch is released, I crank coupler up.

We had the same problem with our last TT. I agree with the advice to either back up or move forward a little (while still hitched, of course!)before trying to get the coupler to release the ball. A few light taps with a hammer also helps, after you've jacked it up. Make sure the chains are still attached, b/c it sometimes comes off in a hurry!

That is why it is bad to do it your way.
It is much safer and there is no need to back up or pull forward with the TV. See my post above which is the simplest and safest way to get it off when it is stuck
I hope the OP trys it, and I will guarantee that they do it this way from now on

I chock my wheels and jack up and take my bars off. I then lower until the receiver bar has shows a little space between it and the receiver which relieves the pressure on the ball. Then I usually have to pull forward to move the ball to the front of coupler to be able to undo the latch. Then I have to back up a 1/4 - 1/2 inch to center the ball in the coupler. Then it comes right off. It's a process, but it works every time.

Daylight, calmer kids and a full stomach helped tremendously; I got it unhooked. It's so much easier leveling w/o the TV!

Removing the safety pin works every time. It allows the ball to "float" & center itself under the hitch. Much safer, easier & faster than moving the TV back & forth trying to find the sweet spot.

Make sure you release your safety chains absolutely last. after you are uncoupled and after you have chocks in place. sometimes if the ball pops loose... the trailer might want to roll if not secured. don't ask me how i know... but i know, lol. rookie mistake. I always lube my ball before i hook up the trailer..a little bit of grease...i think it's bearing grease that i use. did the trick for us. sometimes, i have to have the wife get into the truck and either nudge it forward or backwards...depending on how the site is situated.

Just curious why one has to use a "truck" jack to get the bars off?
