I am looking to upgrade the organizer in my MH. I have searched online RV stores and Ebay with no luck.

As you can see in the below picture, there are 2 cup holders. my wife and I both like to have a water bottle (refillable) along with the coffee cup.

Ideally, along with 4 cup openings, I want to keep what is there. The remotes and my cell phone fit in the slots. The Kleenex is a must. A deeper "catchall" tray in the front (where the flashlight is) would be great.

If I had a shop, I would attempt to make one. But a shop is on the wish list...

Has anyone ever seen one commercially made?

Been there done that......And learned $$$$.(I sold one and gave one to my son)
Then I did it right!

What you should do is build a cardboard/duct tape prototype. Put your stuff in it. Then both of you should get in and out of the seats, reach for things and make sure it works then take your final prototype to a cabinet shop and have them build what you know will work.

Nice job on your radio and GPS setup. That's my next DIY undertaking.

I did not think of actually building a functional one out of cardboard, but I started to do a template. My wife and I did sit in the chairs today and moved our hands around. I decided i wanted the drinks on the forward half as they would be less in the way of getting in and out of the seats.

The GPS is actually a full blown PC made from spare parts. It was actually a couple of years in the making due to trial and error. The most expensive part was getting a 12v to 12v PC power supply for ~$80 (An M4-ATX) and this was most of the trial & error!

Don't you have cup holders in your armrests outboard beside the seats?
We have the doghouse holders, and holders under the side windows as well. Mine is molded into the armrest on the driver's door, hers is mounted to the wall under the passenger side window. Has a nice "net" holder underneath for paper maps, books, etc.

You can get cup holders almost everywhere that can be mounted to the drivers left and the passengers right to the walls/doors or where ever. I mounted mine in my previously owned motorhome with a pair of screws right to the points mentioned. Worked just fine and I never had any problems with them. Much cheaper than having something built by a cabinet maker.

I hope this helps....

I had our small one removed and replaced it with a custom one built especially to fit our dash. We only need two coffee holdes, smart phone, inverter stored in lower area, extended area for electronic picture frame when parked, key holder and place for our passports when we need them.
Sorry don't know how to post a picture.

Jim, I did try that route, but the driver side has a door and the only place to mount it interferes with the window handle or the arm rest. The passenger side worked, but it was plastic and the dog broke it off turning around in the seat (Golden retriever). I think I am going to have to bite the bullet and pay a cabinet shop to build it for me. I have spent hours surfing the net with no luck.

Valerie, below is a link to the tutorial. I use these steps and host my pictures at Picasa.
