Hi

I just bought a 2012 Starcraft Autumn Ridge 278BHS travel trailer and I want to mount a 24" LCD Tv. It's Vesa 100x100 mounting pattern so there are lots of brackets I can buy for it. However, the "red square x" that says it's for tv mount on the interior trailer wall appears to be too small. That is, the lcd tv wall mount part that screws to the wall on all the models I can find appears to be larger than the "red square x" spot on the wall. Is the stud section longer than the designated spot? Or do I have to buy a special wall mount that screws into the small marked red x area?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Where is and what is the red square x spot. Did you try to post a picture? I don't see it. An electronic stud finder can help you to determine what the size of the structure under the paneling is. They alert you to the differing density of the wall construction.

Here's a link to a photo that shows the red x square, where it says to mount the lcd tv bracket. It's above the dinette bench.

The Mfg. has probably put a reinforcement of the wall framing in that location. About the only mount I know that is small enough is an articulating mount like these.. I've seen where some guys attach a piece of plywood to the wall across a couple of studs and then install the TV mount to the plywood.

I have a Northwood Northwind trailer. My bunk house wall has a folding shelf for the tv. I lowered it about 3 inches and added an articulating mount similar to the one in westend's link above. I left the folding shelf to support a DVD player and Sat receiver. Lowering the shelf also allows me to open the cabinet on the outside wall without hitting the shelf or DVD player and sat receiver. I used an electronic stud finder to locate the wall framing. The wall is 1 inch thick and uses 1 x 3's and 1 x 2's in its framing. There is also what I determined had to be a piece of plywood attached between the framing where the shelf was located. There is a 1 x 3 at the edge of the wall next to the aisle. Using the mount similar to the one above I placed the mount with the holes centered about 2 inches from the edge of the wall and drilled the mounting holes through the wall and used 1/4 inch bolts and lock nuts. I also used 1/4 inch flat washers under the bolt heads and nuts that had an outside diameter of about 11/16 inch. I can swing the tv around to be viewed from the top bunk or from the bathroom. The tv I mounted is a 19 inch flat panel.

An electronic stud finder will help you to determine how large the area is supported under the wall sticker if you amount it there or how wide the wall stud is at the edge of the wall where I mounted mine.

I also have the same trailer, to pick up in 2 weeks had the same concern. What the best source to buy mounts from, I am sure the RV dealer is expensive.

I pick mine up in early May so I guess I'll ask the dealer and/or use a stud finder as suggested. I hope there's a bigger stud in the wall than the square decal shows. It looks like most wall mounted pieces of the tv brackets measure 6" to 10" vertical.

Really nice to get a quick response from starcraft - here is the answer part:

You can use the mount that comes with a 22" TV. You need to stay close to the sticker so you hit the plywood backer, it is about 16" x 16".
