Was thinking of going to a 5th wheel toy hauler instead of the bumper pull. I find it a unpleasant tow and am told the 5ers tow much nicer. I have the truck in my signature its a gasser 6.2 engine and 373 axle and its max tow capacity at 11,500lbs with a payload of 2700lbs. I am not worried about a few pound over but not more. I was thinking that it would be hard if not impossible to find a toy hauler that would come in at this weight. Anyone know of one.
Thanks

I see Montana owners all over pulling their fivers with 3/4 ton trucks. Even some 4x4 3/4 tons. I would think you could find a nice Montana used fiver that would make you an excellent trailer. Montana's are built very well and have a lot of amenities that are nice to have. Of course, I am prejudiced because I own one. I opted for a dually just because I like the idea of having 4 rear wheels in the event of a flat back there. Take a look around and see what you find in the Montana fivers. I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

I have a 3/4 7.3 PSD and I pull a Wanderer Wagon 327.
Listed weight empty is 8400 and when I'm ready to travel it is right at 11000.
It is not nearly as nice as the new rigs,no slides either, but it was also much cheaper and I did not have to upgrade my truck.

Desert Fox no longer makes a 5er TH, the old models where the 30-5J (14K full-load) and the 38-5U (18K full-load). Neither sound like a 3/4 ton capable to me.

When someone tells you to buy the same rig they own, listen, they might be right. When they tell you to buy a different rig then they own, really pay attention, they probably know something you don't.

My Father in Law has a Raptor 30' Toy Hauler with a garage that comes in under that weight and pulls it great with a 3/4 ton truck. And yes the 5th wheel will be night and day different than your current bumper pull

Very, very few fiver toy haulers light enough for that truck.

Keep in mind Toy Haulers have VERY high pinweights empty. 5ers are worse, you may be well over payload as you leave the lot empty.

I think the heartland torque is relative light. Not as well equipped as the cyclone or road warrior from the same company.

I don't remember the specs but just wanted to throw that out there. I was considering it and getting a smaller tow vehicle but I was able to buy the gmc 3500 for less than a 2500.
