Morning coffee I drink Folgers Gourmet Supreme. Afternoon or early evening coffee I grind at the time and use a French press. Usually a coarser grind seems to work best. I like my coffee on the thick side, the stronger the better.

I use a KitchenAid Pro burr grinder set to medium. If I grind it too fine, the press doesn't filter out everything.

Those blade grinders are perfect as a spice grinder, but not for coffee.

I have a spinning blade grinder and it works fine. The key is to not set it on the counter and run, but hold it and shake it while it is running. I use 1/8 cup scoop of beans per 6 oz, so my 12oz travel mug gets 2 scoops of beans into the grinder. I grind for 16 seconds while shaking the grinder, and it produces a fine very consistant grind. The grounds go into a melita cone, and I pour hot water through it. The result is a strong flavorful cup with no bitterness. Would I like a burr grinder? Sure, but too many other demands on my pocket book

Roast my own beans. I grind at 4 on my KitchenAid Pro burr grinder. Just below mid point. It gives me a little fines for when I use the french press. I like a little mud in the bottom of the cup.

We buy our coffee from Starbucks and have them grind it for us. They ask us what type of filter we have and they grind it to that consistancy.

It was the main reason I put in a little 400 watt converter in a handy spot. Fresh beans ground daily even while camping.

1/8th cup of full roast beans for every two cups on the coffee pot. We each have our special mugs, and ten cups on the pot gives us two mugs each without waste.

Think a 200W inverter will power my little 160W Krups grinder? I don't know the "max" of the inverter - hasn't arrived yet from Amazon.
