I use brake clean to remove tar. works great and won`t harm the finish.

And don`t you like how the sign says "fresh oil" if it was oil it wouldn`t dry to the point you couldn`t wipe it off!

Fingernails can pop them off also, then some of the above products to remove the residue. Cuts down on the smear amount.

For years I've heard that Coca Cola will work well. Have never tried it, but would certainly be less expensive than many other cleaners....

I too used WD-40 to effectively remove tar from my trailer and TV.

I use Spray and Wash. May have to let it set on there for a few minutes.

I always use WD-40 first on anything like this. mainly because I always have a can of it sitting close by. It seems to work on anything you try using it on.

My Posts are IMHO based on my experiences - PM me

Thanks for all the great suggestions.
After posting, I remembered my father using fresh motor oil to clean up after working with old grease and dirt coated equipment.
I used a 1:1 oil and gasoline mixture to remove the tar then came back with the bug and tar remover and a fresh wax. Looks good as new.
