Ahhh riding in the back of an open PU or in a hot trailer accross the Arizona/ Calif dessert in May. Gonna be 100 plus in the shade. Not gonna do that to any of my animals.

Look at this. http://www.rv.net/forum/index.cfm/fuseaction/thread/tid/25994557.cfm

Put an ID tag on the dog with the address of the RV park you'll be staying at in San Diego..."If found please return me to my owners at (insert address here) San Diego, Calif...his name is Jake."

And turn him loose.

Chances are he'll be there (thanks to a kindly strangers) before ya!

P.S.-Or if you really love him, in the cab!

and ditto.

I'll just add, have you checked with the CG's you plan on staying at regarding breed restrictions? You might run into a problems with that and ole Jake might have to stay home with the in-laws while you vacation so where to put him will no longer be a problem.

board him at a nice kennal, its safer for him, and you,ll enjoy your trip alot more . the TT is to hot ,the bed of the truck very unsafe . think about it??? who wants to baby sit a big dog.

I just noticed that dog is a pitbull. Not many RV parks are gonna let him in do to breed restriction plus lots have a 40lb limit.

Let's see, you are going to put your pitbull in a crate and put that crate in the bed of a pickup or in a closed up fifth wheel and then drive across the desert. There is no way water would stay in any bowl or bucket with the tossing and bouncing the pickup or trailer will encounter. The forcast for Las Vegas is highs of 99 degrees for the next two days. If the dog is alive when you let it out of that oven, I suspect it will not be happy. Is it any wonder some pitbulls are vicious?

100% Agree as we kennel our dog when conditions or distance will not be comfortable for the dog. (She is treated better than I am) Randu

boarding him in a nice kennel or with friends is the best solution. the dog will miss you but he won't be as miserable as he would be in the bed of a truck or in the trailer.

Lets see put him in the bed w/ the 5er hitch so the crate can slide and the trailer can hit him or he can overheat. Bed is out. Put him in a hot trailer with no airflow that will bounce him all around. 5er is out. Cab of truck or home at a kennel or with a pet sitter are your options.
