I'm trying to advise my Mom on what to ask for her 1991 32' Dolphin. It cost about $60K new, has always been garaged and has about 60K miles on it. Overall in good condition for its age. The NADA guide puts the value about $5500, which sure seems low. I found one exactly like it for sale for $9400 at this link.
Looking for input as to how real-world the NADA guidelines are. Has anyone had luck selling a "vintage" RV for much over the NADA price?

Many RVers believe that NADA prices are actually too high but one of the nice things about craigslist and eBay is that you can sample the market and see whether you get any bites. I think I would start at that upper figure and if you get nothing take it off for a week or ten days and put it on at a lower price until you start getting calls.
Or call that seller and see if they've had any interest.
Take LOTS of photos... make a web page for them and put links to it in any ads. List any upgrades (Banks, tinted windows, new charger, inverters, etc.) and make sure that any prospective buyers know that they are getting more than just the stock coach. Photos of tires showing tread also help. Anything to make yours rise above the pack.
Good luck.

Well sooner or later someone would buy it for 9400 or make you an offer. The NADA's are more what a dealer would offer you in trade in average condition I think. The faster you wanna sell it the lower the price will be.

My tires look brand new with under 5k miles on them and they are over 10 years old. I would rather see a pic of the date code stamped on the tire sidewall.

Actually, on any 1991 coach, throw the book away. Condition and maintenance through the years will determine if it is overpriced at $100 or a gem worth 2X "Book", that will give you many years of enjoyment.

If it has been garaged the whole time shes had it and its in good condition Id think she could get more than book value for it. I bought a 1990 that needed work and paid 3000 for it. I actually offered less than they wanted cause I knew it needed work though.
Where I have saved the most money on it is in labor because I have been able to do all the work myself. I knew financially Id have to buy one that may need work but thankfully I could.
With that said if you post good pictures of it on craigs list and keep renewing the post every few days it should get some nice hits. Main thing is finding right person at the right time that has the fundage and desire for the motor home. You could start at 9k and go from there but if you think you can get more then you should ask for more up front. You never know and you can always the asking price later on.

I recently sold my good condition 1997 Class A for about $4,000 more than NADA, and my original asking price was even higher than that. Posted my ad on craigslist only. I just searched cl and ebay and other RV for sale sites to find similar models for sale and priced mine in line with what I found.
Just be patient, and don't price it so high that people won't even call. Be prepared to come down from your asking price. I believe that potential buyers love to feel like they're getting a good deal by asking for and getting a lower price than advertised. Sure, a few people asked me if I would consider selling for the NADA price. I simply said no.

They're simply not very many buyers out there for older class A's. If someone is looking in your area for a $10K coach they will buy the best that they can find regardless what NADA or tire date codes say.
Look around and see what 10K is buying local, then price from there.

Hi All.
Just a thought for you. If your Mon's Motorhome is so nice, then why don't you sell your Motorhome and buy hers ? That soulds like a pretty good deal to me. Yours sounds like a Fixer-Uper and hers accoring to you its always been Graged, and is just in perfect condition. Go for it.
