Prime membership gives you free shipping on Amazon stocked items... Plus they have some extra enticements such as streaming movies...some free...and e-book library...again some free...

If you tend to shop via the internet...it can pay for itself. Plus you can share your membership with family members if you want... I've got my wife and two grown sons on my account.
