Would it be better to make sure the cable is RG6 since you may use that 25' length. It should carry the signal better than the older RG58.

Actually not a dumb question, I have been at a couple of state parks that had the cable.

RG-58 is 50 ohm and is typically used for communication devices (CB, 2-way radio, and ham). I should not be used for TV.

RG-59 is 75 ohm which is used for TV.

A good source for most any kind of cable is Monoprice.com

As I see some pictures posted above I would also go with the 25ft along with the splitter and a couple of shorter cables. You never know when someone else wants to watch something else.

and with my old fingers I like the kind that just push on instead of the kind that screws. Screwing might make for a better connection but it is tough to unscrew the next day to get ready to leave. I have never had a problem with my push on kind.

I agree with the push on adapter ends. Also I prefer RG-6 coax. Just leave it plugged into motorhome.

Although RG-6 cable is the better of the two. There is less than a db of loss difference between the two at 25`.

We are totally new and went on really our first trip and there was cable hook up. The used rv we purchased had the cables, but the tv only would show the channel number on screen, but no reception of the channel. Our rig is a 2009, that made me wonder if the switch box is outdated and if the newer ones are digital? Or if we just don't know what we are doing which is likely the case one way or the other.

Just a shot, but I had the same thing happen in my brand new coach and they forgot to tell me to turn off the power amp on the air antenna when using cable.... that button is located in a very "hemmed in" area that you can't even see in my coach, so I didnt even know there was such a button,

If that amp is on you wont get any cable.....At least not in my Coach, I shut the amp off cable worked fine!

Correct! I learn this here but have not camped where I had cable to test. The little plate that generally has a 12v female receptacle in it and the cable coming out of your TV plugs into, as a very tiny pushbutton switch that you need to press to turn the amp off. Once you do, your TV should be good for cable hookup.
