Hi, we were at the dealer today and saw a KZ sportsman with the bunks, and a floorplan that is perfect for us.

It's dry weight is 4600 and my TV is rated for 6500, so even with propane tanks, battery and our gear I should be well below the limit.

I know very little about these except the floorplan and the price is right! Can someone tell me their experiences?

You will be closer to 5500 pounds ready to camp, which could put you TV over one of its limits (like GVWR, tongue weight or GCWR) being well under the tow rating. What is the TV?

The Sportsmen S242SBH has a gross weight of 6000lbs, 13% of that leaves you with a tongue weight of 780.

1150(payload) - 780(tongue weight) = 370lbs for cargo and passengers.

The S242SBH is a great camper.

What is the payload rating on the TV? This is generally the first weight that will be exceeded.

Hi Will, my apologies, im missing something here.

When reading some posts on the forum, I was told to look at the "yellow sticker" weight, then add some for the additional gear. I was not aware we needed to use the gross weight.

You do not need to use the gross weight.

You could use 5500 if that's what you will load it up to, in which case your payload would be 435lbs.
