In my search for my Class B, a dealer showed me a used Class C with a rear kitchen and bath. I loved that layout and so started looking for it in a Class B.

I found Airstream Interstate and American Cruiser had floorplans with rear kitchen/bath. I love the floorplan in the American Cruiser.

I started looking exclusively for one of them but I am not having much luck. Someone beats me to them - except for the one I drove to see and didn't want.

Are there other used models would have a similar floorplan?

How can I find out which older Class B's have the rear kitchen/bath?

Have I mentioned that I hate Google these days? I can't seem to find answers to questions like this with my Google searches.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Gulfstream made a Vista Cruiser G30 that had a rear kitchen/bath.
I'm not sure of all the years it was produced.

ruwth,

For perspective, you're where we were almost ten years ago.

Look at our rv.net "join" date - it was four years before we bought our rig. It's a lot of money and we wanted to be sure we thought it through the first time. There is so much to learn.

The dealer sales people will tell you whatever you want to hear - as long as your check is good and you'll write it "today".

We probed and probed and probed - and then did it some more. RV shows, online, dealer lots, folks who owned one already, and more.

In hindsight, it was worth every moment it took.

You'll find what's right - though my counsel is to not get in a hurry.

In our case, when the thinking was done, and the "right" rig came along, the deal was made in about ten minutes. But, we did buy new - had it been used, it would have taken a bit longer.

You'll find it.

Cheers.

ruwth,

When we were first looking, both my DW and I quite liked the rear kitchen/bath layout and thought it was what we wanted. Then we thought about it some more from the perspective of using it "day to day".

The Achilles heel for us was the gray and black tank size. Some "builds" had them separate, some combined - but neither was enough tankage to suit us. So, we abandoned our search.

We finally settled on a PW Lexor and have been very happy with it.

Here's a link to some specs on the Vista Cruiser others have mentioned.

Big enough tanks for ya?

Cheers.

Oh dear! I have no idea how big tanks I would need/want!

It will take a miracle for me to do this!

There is so much I do not know.

I will be using this as my primary vehicle and so I want the seating to be in the middle and I will be needing seatbelts as well.

gulp!

retraite,

4 years!!

I don't want to wait that long but I am sure not having any luck right now. Someone has beat me to the last three American Cruisers I have called about. I saw a new ad today and was so excited. I called right away. It hasn't sold but two folks are ahead of me to see it. Someone is flying out there on the 25th to see it.

I am feeling tired and discouraged today.

I really wanted to have one to travel in this summer.

I seem to recall that ARCruiser, formerly a frequent poster here and prolific trader of B's, had a rear bath & kitchen American Cruiser in the single-rear wheel model, about '04 or so. He was relatively young, married, and they had a small child. He only kept the AmC for a short while. I think I recall that they didn't like the floorplan because the bed, when made up, interfered with access between the cab & rear. I think that one was also his experience with the "wandering Dodge" issue.

Please do yourself a favor and read the FAQ's here on buying used and the importance of a proper test drive.

Also be sure to check out Sportsmobile. Although they have a few standard floorplans with a rear bath they will also build almost anything you want. When looking used, you will have to check out photos or ask the seller about the layout.

Jim - Thanks for your comments. I have read the thread about the handling problems of some of the Dodge vans. I wonder if the one I decided not to buy might also have had that problem. I may have avoided a big problem I didn't know existed.

I did see first hand the issue with the bed. From just looking at things on line, I thought that the "sofa" made into a double bed and the dinette made into a single. That was not the case in the 1999 I looked at. The two made into one large bed and to get out of bed, you had to climb out the end of it. That would be a tad hard for me to do. I am not sure how the beds work in later models but this is something I need to pay attention to. My grandkids might not have a problem doing that but it might be a tad difficult for me.

Eyegor - Thanks for the information about Sportsmobiles. Looking for a used Class B is certainly a time-consuming and challenging process! I wish I could simply do a search for "rear kitchen" -- why can't things be simpler? I looked at so many photos yesterday, I wore myself out! LOL Whew!

Wish I was rich!

Everyone - I am so glad I joined RV.Net! I appreciate the feedback!
