Based on the Equal-i-zer, should I go with 1200 lb bars or 1400 lb bars? Equal-i-zer's web page has a calculator to determine which bars to get. When I plug in my numbers it recommends the 1400 lb bars.

You would do well to get an accurate weight on your loaded trailer before you pick a hitch. It could save you some headaches in the long run. Right now you are just guessing.

Your bars should be sized to match 15% of your loaded weight.

We are very pleased with our Equalizer. No sway problems at all, easy to use.

Ditto on getting an accurate tongue weight reading with trailer in a loaded condition. Knowing the tongue weight also helps estimate the number of spacer washers you'll need for initial angle set. I got the Equalizer 1,000/10,000 to pull a 6500 lb. enclosed car trailer with about 750 lbs tongue weight. Took it on a 1000 mile trip with driving rain, strong cross winds and some tight maneuvering in the campgrounds. Worked great. Very stable. No problems at all. Especially liked that I didn't have to remove the WD bars for backing up or tight maneuvering.

Thanks for all the comments. I've decided to get the Equalizer. Just have to get the tongue weighed for the right sized bars.
