My wife and I hope to be fulltiming by the middle of June. I need to keep my address in the area due to medical insurance reasons. I am planning on getting a UPS mail box number where they will hold my mail until I call them to tell them where to ship it. Cost in the price of yearly mail box rental plus what ever the charge is to box up mail and ship. Shipping charges to be paid by credit card when we call and tell them where to ship. Sounds like a good plan to me, does anybody else use UPS mail forwarding and do you like there service?

No matter what mail service you use, my advice is to utilize paper mail as little as possible. That means online banking and billpaying.

Unfortunately the medical profession refuses to join the 21st century and those da** bills are strictly paper and a real pita.

We. too. are heading out in June on our own little adventure. Plan to use UPS mail forwarding. I've seen numerous posts that say it works quite well. visited our local UPS store and was impressed with the people and the service. So, no recommendation, but we are planning to go the UPS route.

Good luck to us both!

I'm struggling with the mail forwarding/physical address situation, and I'm wondering if your particular state accepts a UPS mailbox address as your physical address? I guess it's up to the state.

Check out www.myrvmail.com in Crestview FL. They have various plans and you can either use their address or keep your own. They have great customer service and are affiliated with Passport America, the half price camping club. Their best tier of service provides that they will scan your mail and you can view it online in a secure server. they will either shred your mail or forward it depending on your choice. We found their service reasonably priced and competent.

We have been using a "mailbox store" for the last two years. Being a California resident doesn't give us a lot of options but we did want to make sure that we had an actual "address" and not a PO Box. It is definitely more pricey than you can find in the more "full-time rv friendly" states, but it has worked great for us. We pay the annual box rental fee and they charge us whatever the regular charge is to ship our mail. This charge is a few dollars over the regular post office charge but it's nominal.

I changed my address before we left town so I had a few months to get to know everyone in there before we left. During tax season (I am an accountant) I call every week and they will go through every piece of my mail with me while I tell them what to throw out or send or even to open. I could also have them fax me something if I needed it immediately. Outside of tax season, if we're not expecting anything, we usually call for mail every other week.

It's worked out great and the shipping time from Tahoe to Florida, where we are now, is only 2 days with Priority mail!

It all depends on the people in a particular UPS store. We used one in Concord NH and they were great. Friends used one in CO and they screwed up their mail often.

The UPS store will give us a physical address for us to use.

Okay, thanks. The address holds up at the DMV, etc., with everyone being so concerned about us RVers being "real"? I'm sincerely asking, as I'm thinking about domiciling in a state that isn't one of the full-timers' darlings, as you are.

We've been using The UPS Store for mail forwarding for the past three years. Excellent service. But, in Louisiana, they cannot be used as our "physical address", which must go on our drivers' licenses. When we're in Louisiana, we always stay at the same RV park. With the owner's permission, we use the RV Park address as our physical address. It's been working great, so far.
