We have had one in our area for about 10 years. Wife and I have been about three times before, dining with other people. It is not even our third choice if we have any say about where to eat.

Granddaughter celebrating her 13th birthday yesterday wants to dine at Outback. We think o.k., it is a Monday night, 5:00 PM, no crowds, we can stand it once again. It is 5:30 before all parties arrive, nine total including our 3 year old grandson. We finally leave just after 7:30 PM, most of the time we were waiting for food or waiter to bring the check. They have the nerve to print a "suggested gratuity" on the ticket, 18%!!!! No way says I, not for a very overcooked 6oz sirloin. I would have sent it back, but I did not want to spend the night there, just better to eat it and go.

I told my wife NEVER again, I don't care who wants to go........

At least it was a "suggested" gratuity. I hate when the gratuity is added and you can't take it off the bill because it is added to "parties of (insert number) or more".

Did you go and talk to the manager??? How does putting the place down here help them to improve??? I know most menus will have a statement that for parties over a certain number a gratuity will be added -- no surprise. I know the Outback in another town I lived in wasn't good -- they used way too much spices on the meat. The one near where I currently live is excellent and the service is great. Putting down all of the Outbacks because of the experience of the one in your town is unfair for the good ones.

I agree. I have eaten at several across the country. Not by choice, others insist.

They consistently overcook their food as a corporate policy. They use so many rubs and marinades and flavorings in their meat one cannot identify what the entree is supposed to be.

Given a choice I would rather never patronize them again.

O.K., I knew I would be in for a rough ride, but If I could have found a Manager to speak to, I would have. Just for tavelling information, bypass the Outback in North Little Rock, AR. We had three seperate checks, for three parties, so a group of (insert number here) does not apply, I am sure 18% of three checks is way more than any inconvenience our party may have caused their overworked staff on a SLOW Monday night!! My 37 year old daughter always orders her steaks well done, no pink at all. She even complained her steak was way overcooked.

I am just letting everyone know, unless they change, the North Little Rock, AR location is the pits, JMHO...... BTW, I did complain on the web page of Outback Steakhouse, I it does any good.

Not doubting your experience but.....one has to ask? If its that bad, why is there a line waiting to get in? Unless they have the market cornered as the only place to eat in the town, they must be doing something right; so right that it is that popular. Not a slam, just thinkin' out loud.

That seems to be the theme for all the outbacks (over cooked and hard to chew) I have been to. The one in our town closed years ago, wasn't surprised, have been to a couple others, never left one feeling that the food was worth the price. Now they never come up when we are trying to decide where to eat . There may be very good outbacks somewhere we have yet to find one and quit looking.

hershey, I have wondered the same thing myself, what makes people go back? My daughters family will go three or four time a year, but I think this was their last trip. I heard my daughter tell the waiter to bring my grandson the chicken strips and fries from the childs menu, she even pointed at it on the menu. They bring him a grilled chicken breast, go figure......

All I can think of is they have a killer bar with cheap drinks, after a while, you don't care what your food is like!!!!!

We have been to an Outback probably 4 times...every time our meal was mediocre at best....and every time we had to wait to get in and the place was packed..so maybe it's just us. They must be doing something right.

Twice: interesting waiter style.

The waiter/waitress sat down in the booth with us to take our order and both times said stuff like, "What are we having for dinner tonight?"

I'm not at all surprised. IMO, a better meal can be had at nearly any Sizzler!
Without the fake Ausie accent...
Actually, given the choice between Outback and Applebees, I will go to Texas Roadhouse.
But, I would rather go to Denny's or Perkins.
For almost 10 years, I did maintenance on fire bombers, spending most of the time every summer living in motels and eating in restaurants. After a while, they all sort of blend together, and differences are difficult to spot!
