I plan on leaving my 2008 bighorn on site in central Florida. I was wondering if I leave the unit plugged in if it will over charge my 2 agm batteries. This is my first fiver and am not really familiar with the process. Also if I leave it unplugged and disconnect the batteries will they go bad over the 6 months.Of the 2 options what do you think is the best on or is there a better option. Thanks in advance.

Hi,
AGM batteries have extremely low self discharge rates. I would disconnect them and leave them.
Alternately you could add a modest solar system.

I think disconnecting them is best. I would worry less if there was no power to the RV while in storage.
Charge them fully and disconnect the ground cable from the batteries to remove all load.

I disconnect my 2 T105's at the end of my campin season after they get fully charged. I anticipated giving them a 24-hour charge about once a month, but didn't need to. After six months in my driveway, they didn't need much of a charge at all, and no water either.

You could plug into a timer and then allow the timer to only come on about a hour a day.

I wouldn't leave it plugged in if it will be 6 months completely unsupervised. Install a battery disconnect, and leave the shore cord unplugged.

Here is some info about AGM batteries. If you are going to leave it plugged in then you should verify the float voltage of your converter/charger.

I have a single 4D AGM. It has been sitting disconnected & unattended since last November. I go back to it next Tuesday. In less than an hour I expect that it will be fully recovered from its winters sleep.
AGMs have a very very slow self discharge rate.
Leaving them on a trickle charge is not necessary & runs the risk of charger failure & cooking the batterys. An expensive loss. Seen it happen.
