I am getting ready to replace the locks on my baggage doors with ACE (the round key) locks. I can get them keyed alike so I don't have extra keys. Then I got to thinking, I will still need to carry the key to the old baggage door locks because that is the key for the outside shower (we do use it to hose off a huge cutting board when we do some butchering on the tailgate of the truck).
Why do we need to lock the outside shower? Is some homeless person going to come by and use it? Wouldn't it be easier for them to go to the nearby bath house?

Locking a 1/16" inch thick piece of flimsy plastic (outdoor shower door) is....
If you don't want to fool with extra keys, just replace the lock (which is really just a latch anyway) with a thumb catch.

I think the main purpose of the lock is to secure the door while traveling. Do that somehow and you will be fine.

I am not sure Scooby knows how to use a key.

I could never understand the need for a lock on that shower door either, PLUS it was a pain to continually fish my keys out of my pocket every time I wanted to rinse off a fishing rod or something. I went to the local RV store and bought a cam lock - identical except it doesn't have the key mechanism, just a knob - and changed it in two minutes for about five bucks.

I allways thought the outside shower had a key lock on it to keep someone like a curious kid from coming along and playing with the shower. I could be wrong though. Wouldn't be the first time. LOL

Thanks. You all have convinced me. I have to go by my RV parts supplier tomorrow to pick up something he ordered for me . . . I will look for a thumb turn at the same time.

your words are wise and ring true…
the reason they are located on the other hatch doors as well…
if they were really intended to be locks they wouldn’t be keyed alike every camper ever made for years…

I took the lock off mine. I figure that if someone needs a shower bad enough to steal it, they're welcome to it.
