Over the years we have tried many types of washers for our windshield.
Bugs are the hardest to get cleaned.
What is the best cleaner solution to get a windshield cleaned

I use "Bug Buster" sold at Camping World. Spray it on, wait a couple of minutes, and the bugs just melt away.

I coat my windshield with Rain-X several times a year, depending on use of the wipers. The bugs come off much easier plus it sheds the rain in a remarkable fashion. To just clean I use plain Windex without ammonia. Be careful not to let the Rain-X run down onto the 3M mask if you have one. It will erode the plastic.

Here's another satisfied Rejex customer - in fact we use it on the entire exterior.

You might want to check out Bugs R Off, available from Coil N Wrap. It is kinda pricey, but works very well and won't strip the wax from the front of your rig.

A couple of times a year, if it gets real dirty I wash then dry it then scrub it with 0000 steel wool then use wash-n dry cleaner/polish. Gets rid of all spots and grime and help it stay clean longer.

We used Windex, then found product called "Invisible Glass" which works great. Procured on either QVC or HSN.

+1 on the 4-0 steel wool and then a double coat of RainX.
