So, We just purchased our new TT a 2012 Shadow Cruiser, 28' and have made reservations at Anastasia State Park for Memorial Day weekend. Couple of questions. First, because we are on the peninsula, off the ooast, what kind of weather or normal high winds can we expect? Is it an issue? Second, I didn't know until the recently, Hurricane season officially begins during that weekend....hope that doesn't happen. Anyone been there? Share some of the fun you had in this area. Also, feel free to warn me of anyting you may think is important. I'm a big boy and I can take it. Thank you.

It is a great park. It is far enough off the beach that wind is not normally an issue unless bad weather sets in. It is a heavily wooded CG for the most part wirh many loops and tight roads so take your time getting in your spot. The Coquina loop is the only one with large sites suitable for big trailers and MH's. St Augustine is a wonderful place to visit with many interesting sites. Have fun

Thank you Florida Gypsy. So I have a 28' long, 8' wide, 10'3 high TT. If I am careful is there anything hanging or in the way that will still just het the TT?

As long as you reserved a site big enough you will be OK. Just watch the overhead and know it could be challenging backing in due to narrow roads and trees in some areas. Take your time, it can be done. This CG is full all the time.

Agree with Fla-gypsy, as we both around 50 miles or so from the campground. It is a good place to spend the week-end. As for storm season, Fla. storms are more around Labor Day Week-end. So Weather should be nice to where u can enjoy walking around the old fort and around old St. Augustine.

enjoy

We've been there several times and enjoy it ! You'll need to drive / bike to the beach it's a good distance. You would not want to carry beach gear / coolers / chairs that distance.

For some reason the guests there seem to love to crowd the loop roads by parking very close to, or on the road it self! I've seen this more at this park than any other park we've been to.

You'll be about a ten minute drive to down town St. augustine. Good fun place! Weather will be hot at that time, with possible passing afternoon showers.

We will be there the first of June for four days!

Good luck......hope you enjoy it !

Great park, and as mentioned, the canopy over the campsites cuts most of any wins that might be blowing at the beach.

Have a great time!

We stayed at North Beach Camp Resort in February and liked it a lot. Good location just north of St. Augustine. We also rode thru the Anastasia CG. Anastasia is tight and didn't look like much to do. Look at rvparkreviews.com Both have good reviews but we liked North Beach better.
