We're in the midst of shopping and packing and as we were picking up our treat, I wondered if anyone else does this...
Our special treat is Keebler Pecan Sandies. We never have them around the house, but have always gotten them for our trips. We started this when the kids were small and still do it now the kids are gone.
Is there one special treat that you don't normally have when you're home that you get just for your outings?

speciality breads.. I am not much of a sandwich fan, and generally will only eat a sandwich if I have some kind of hearty/flavorful bread. since I do sandwiches for simplicity when we are camping, I will swing by the bakery dept in publix and get some extra grainy bread or rolls for sandwiches.. I never eat plain white bread. and only remember to buy bread of any kind when my son tells me to get some.

Two things actually: peanut butter filled pretzels from Costco (nibble while we drive, are really good with grapes) and chocolate filled Oreos. We've found that even when they are in the house we don't eat them until it is time to travel. I didn't use to think that Oreos could get stale

For us its our King crab leg dinner. Yummy!! Though at $25/pound (at Costco), its gonna really hurt this year but it's such a special treat the kids will always remember. Can't afford to do it for each camping trip so we usually save it for our week long trip to yosemite.
