I hope the answer to this thread will help people.

Onan/Cummins is known to buy parts from other suppliers, put them in their box and charge an inflated price for it. I have seen this with Champion spark plugs for their gas gensets.

So I need a fuel pump for my Onan 7.5 DKDFJ diesel genset. It has the Facet one seen in the pic, it is leaking. Called the dealer here and it's part number 149-1828 and runs $180. These Facet pumps can be had for less than $90 on eBay.

The questions is... How do I know which one has the right spec?

Ah Ha.....therein comes the extra $90 up charge.
Cummins knows the correct specs.

Have you tried checking with FACET.

I am going to call Facet in the morning. I am also going to pull the pump tonight and see if there are any numbers on it.

This from a google inquiry, put part # in the search. Lots of info there.

"I had to replace 12 v fuel pump on Onan MDKD 8kw generator,Onan #149-1828. After numerous calls I got the pump at PEP BOYS Auto approved for marine diesel engines, # Facet USA 42370 for $82.00, It is identical, Hope this helps someone.
Will be leaving Aventura Fl. For Whitby Ontario Canada April 22.

I found the local CarQuest shop could cross-reference most Onan filters and pumps with CarQuest units, identical in every way except price.

Shop around. Some dealers have incredible markups. They must thing that we are captive customers. There are not that many dealers out there but you can shop around or buy online. I was charged $180 for an upper radiator hose that I later discovered other dealers sold for $80.
