Thanks to all. We have made reservations for tomorrow. A lot cheaper than the BC Ferry to Vancouver too.

If the noon departure time works for you, the Washington ferry should work fine. The land border crossing at the same time (mid afternoon) is bound to be slow, especially approaching a weekend.

I posted links to photos of the terminals from a ferries forum on the other thread (the one on traveling north to Port Hardy). WSDOT (washington's transportation website) also has web cams at the ferry terminals.

Took the Sydney-Anacortes ferry for the first time last year. Beautiful cruise, no turbulence as could be the case on other ferry routes. Took the Tsaweassan-Duke Point ferry to Vancouver Island, cost $283.40. Return trip from Sydney to Anacortes was $169.30. Coach and toad are about 60 feet long. Entry to the port in Sydney requires you to go around a couple of blocks in order to make a straight-on approach to the entry point; otherwise, a very, very sharp turn that many big rigs cannot make.
