Hi,
just bought this gps. setting it up, connected it to the
laptop to update, per setup instructions. worked fine. then
I tried to register and keep getting user registration failed.
anyone else run into this?

Ran into the same problem with my Garmin. Rebooted the computer and the registration worked after that.

I had a problem and called Rand McNally and they were very helpful.

There was a problem with the desktop install software in the earlier shipments, wrong instructions depending on if you were using a PC or Mac.

Go to the RM site and download the latest desktop version for your platform and try it again. Has often solved registration issues.
