First trip out on Saturday and I go to unhitch. I jack it up to remove stress on the WDH and near stopping I hear SNAP and the side handle just spins. Now and trailer and truck are jacked up in the middle with no way to lower it. I removed the little cover exposing the gears and I notice the roll pin snapped off the crank handle holding the side gear on. Luckly I hd a small bottle jack and Lynx blocks to get it off and to level it out. I notice the jack is only for 2,000lbs max. I'm scarred to install a new roll pin to have that one snap as well. Its only a 3/16th's pin. Anybolt else expierence this failure? I would like to upgrade to a top handle but no room and thought about a nice 3500lbs electric one but again my jack is RIGHT up against the propane tanks. I cant have a large electric head there. Plus my LP bottle cover lid snaps from the front right where that head would be.

Just had a quick peek on eBay and about all of the power jacks offered including the Ultra Fab I ended up getting have the motor on the front of the jack so it shouldn't interfere with your tanks.

The lp bottles are only up against the jack on one side… why couldn’t you rotate the power head to where it will fit…

I'd upgrade to the power jack. We have a tight setup with the propane tanks and found a power jack with the motor hanging off the front and it came with a tall handle for emergency use (you could also use a 3/4 ratchet). I'd replace the roll pin in the manual jack, put it on ebay, craiglist or keep it to put back on the trailer when you sell it. It doesn't seem there is a problem with the jack other than what it was trying to lift. It actually did what it was suppose to do.

If I rotate the head straight wouldnt it still be in the way of the lock on my tanks? The cover is a vew nice Fleetwood Brand one that came with the trailer. I have never seen one like it before.

Your cover is exactly like mine and my electric jack is actually touching the tank cover. You should have no problem whatsoever using any elec jack that you choose and you should be able to mount it with the motor forward and be able to open the cover. Mine is an Atwood that has the motor on the top. My wife made the cover for it and the hitch.
