I have a Honda 2000i and Dometic 13500btu a/c. It will make the a/c come on but won't cycle through. I read on here that alot of guys have a 13500btu a/c and it works great. Please tell me if I'm doing something wrong or if I need to change something. I don't know if it makes a difference but the genny is about 5-6 years old but has only been ran a few times. When I got it I had to clean the carb because it had been sitting so long.
thanks

It seems 13.5 btu units are just about the limit of the Honda, and it depends a bit how the A/C starts. You might look into getting a soft start setup, it basically scales the load up just a bit softer than a full start and lets your Honda pick up the load.

Make sure that the Honda is not in 'ECO' mode and reduce any other loads in your camper (shut off breaker to converter/charger, put refer on LPG, etc).

I always raise an eyebrow when people say their 2000 works just fine with a 13500. Mine will run it just fine at sea level and temps below 75 F but won't at 2000 feet and temps over 80 F. It will work for ten or so minutes but then the heat overwhelms the gen set.

I have a 13,500 btu Coleman and a Honda EU2000i and mine won't do it. I have tried twice. Once at 1300 feet, and around 80 degrees.
I did try a Honda EU3000i once and it would work at 5800 feet, even short cycling, but I have a hard time lifting it. Probably going to buy another 2000 if things work out this summer.

Have you properly sized your power cord? Gauge and distance make a huge difference. There are a number of charts available that will tell you what's recommended to minimize the loss to 3-5%. I had a similar problem. Found out my cord was too long.

I don't know what your reading but, "it works great" raises more than an eyebrow with me. The thing you need to change is your generator. My Polar Cub, "works great", but any bigger A/C won't. I'm looking at getting one of the new Yamaha EF2400 for this very reason.

I have a Honda EU2000i and Dometic 11,500btu a/c. Will run the a/c if the gen is not in econo mode and nothing else is running. Even then the gen is running wao to handle the a/c.
