The South end is good with a few extra perks, like a road that goes out to the entrance, and easier acess to the pool, and Lazy river. The only reason we wanted the North end, Is because of the Large Empty beach between PL, and the State Park. Lot's of good shells there, and no people, and it makes a shorter walk to the State park pier IF you want to go.
Other than that. All of the beach sites are good.
Too funny! We like the other end because of the other direct road to the entrance. I'll have to check out the beach at the North end for shells! We'll be there soon!!!

Argue all you want there is no substitution for OL's. I have recomended it to lots of people over the years and they have all made it their primary CG in MB. It is constantly voted #1 for a reason and thats because the majority of campers prefer it. If you dont like it simply do go.This website is the only place I have ever heard of people that dont like OL's makes you wonder if some people just like to find a reason to complain.Everybody likes different things but the majority of RVers like OL's or it would not stay booked.
X2 Ocean Lakes has a lower crime rate than most small towns in America. Sheesh, Golf Carts, lots of Golf Carts.Lots of people havin fun. I'm one of them.
We just came back from MB and stayed at the KOA. Our preference is quiet, clean and lots of trees. this place is a few blocks to the Ocean, easy walk. they rent golf carts and have plenty of trees. It was hard to believe we were in a city. Its located off Kings Hwy or RT 17 (about 1 block). this park was so quiet!

We would stay here again. We loved it.
I have stayed there also and it is nice and shaded, very nice CG. But if im going to drive 250 miles to go to the beach im going to the beach. but again It is a nice cg I often stayed there when I went to bike week they are motorcycle friendly.
We are full time and just left Ocean Lakes. We started our adventure in Southern California to Idaho through Wyoming, Colorado to Indiana then South through Florida and back North into the Carolina's. Bar None, we have not encountered customer service close to that at Ocean Lakes. My motto is: No Customer Service, No Customer!

We stayed at the KOA for one night as well. It's a nice place and you are right, it's hard to believe that a block away is crazy hwy 17. But as mentioned, you are a ways from the beach an you have to cross a very busy road. Plus for the extra $20 a night they charged us over what the big 3 charge that are on the water, I would choose them.

We have been to Ocean Lakes many times and we feel it is the best one of them all. We also go in Sept.less crowds and choice sites available. Concrete pads are great, no sand tracking in. But for something new we would love to try Huntington Beach state park and have tried to make res on line for a few years now and it is always booked for full hookups and lots of times there are no sites available even in Sept. So we must figure it is an outstanding place to go. The pics show really nice private sites. Can anyone tell me if the only way to get a site is to call directly. I just checked yesterday and it shows full hookups are totally booked until Nov. Is it really? and is it really that great to be booked up all the time. Thanks
I checked about a month ago and there were some FHU sites available in July. But it was only for a couple days. If you are trying to go for an extended time, you might have issues. We drove through there a couple weeks ago. It was ok. Nothing to write home about. Some grass cutting needed to be done. Some of the sites are private, some are wide open. But there is plenty of space between them. Rustic camping at its best.
At ocean lakes right now, very quiet. Drove through last night (Friday) at 9:30 and there were hardly any golf carts out. Not like spring break week. Also noticed there were a good bit of sites in the 4000 section open. For those who don't like concrete pads. Lol
