When I was working, we had 3 secretaries in our department. We always took them to lunch on Secretary's Day. They made our lives easier.
Kudos to you and all the other secretaries out there.
Retired and visiting as much of this beautiful country as I can.

Thank you to all the secretaries. Many times secretaries are not fully appreciated. Fortunately, I had some very outstanding secretaries. I had several ladies working in various departments for which I had responsibility; on Secretaries Day, I always bought boxes of candy for all the ladies in my departments.

I've been an admin for over 30 years and to me this day is an insult. If you can't treat me right during the rest of the year, then don't think flowers or a lunch makes up for it. Respect and a decent wage are what I want, not a forced token of appreciation.

I thought they changed it to Administrative Professionals Day since the word Secretary is going the way of Stewardess.

Say what you will, and no, nobody tinkled in my Wheaties this morning! Most people wouldn't last a day in an admin's shoes. We're the babysitters, handymen, therapists, wives and moms of the business world. And anything else that gets tossed at us. Without us, many companies would have a hard time surviving.

That made it easy. I just fired both of my Secretaries by E-Mail.

OK. Happy Secretary's Day to all the Secretaries out there except you.
Feel better, now?

I absolutely agree with you. The day is to awaken the spirit of respect for secretaries.
