Hi,

We have a new Rockwood Mini-Lite 2109S. To start with, I'm just adding a few simple mods for convenience. I want to put a paper towel rack on the inside of the outside wall, in the kitchen. However, I'm unable to determine with my stud finder where the aluminum framework is to screw into. Maybe my stud finder doesn't pick up aluminum, I don't know. Plus I understand that there may not be any aluminum studs in the small area I want to drill.

So my question is, what is the best way to mount the paper towel rack to the wall?

Use screws and if I don't hit an aluminum stud, just use plastic anchors?

Or should I use some kind of double-sided tape to attach it to the wall, and if so, what product would you all recommend?

I thought about attaching it to the bottom of the upper cabinet, with screws or perhaps double-sided tape, but being the lite weight trailer that it is, that material appears to be fairly thin, so I'm not sure if that is the correct solution.

Or would you recommend none of the above, and use a free-standing paper towel holder on the (limited) counter area?

I prefer to mount it to the wall or the bottom of the cabinet, but I don't want it to fail and then have to figure out how to cover up some holes attractively. I'm open to suggestions from more experienced RVer's than moi.

We used Velcro industrial stick tape. For the the tp holder in the bathroom, since it tends to stay hotter in there, after I figured out the best place for it, I gorilla glued the velcro strip to the wall. I can change out the tp holder in the future if I need/want to and I didn't drill any holes in the wall.

3M makes great (and strong) double-sided tape. The same stuff they attach car moulding with. As state, that industrial velcro works great too.

I've had great luck with the 3m command strips with Velcro used for picture hanging. They are very firm. For my towel rack, I had the same issue and ended up mounting it into the wood frame of the upper cabinet on the end of the cabinet. My sink is at the end of the base cabinet on the right hand side so I mounted it on the nd of the cabinet directly above the sink.

Don't do what the previous owners of Mobi did and install it over the stove.

I prefer free standing or just a loose roll of paper towel. It is easier to move to the table and outside. Otherwise you will need to have two rolls on the go.

I agree with the other posts. Either freestanding, double-stick to the outside wall, or attach to the bottom of a cabinet.

I would avoid putting holes in any of your outside walls if you can avoid it as it can reduce the insulation value wherever you drill.

We like freestanding in particular because we can pick up the whole thing and move it outside for meals when camping.
