crcr, Phoenix, AZ, I picked up both a toilet paper holder and a paper towel holder that have a hanger mechanism that fits over the top of a cabinet door. I like it as it doesn't take up counter space and it doesn't require screws or double tape/velcro. I've seen this type of holder in both plastic and metal. I bought chrome.

Where did you find items like that, at an RV supply?
Lots of prompt and great suggestions from everyone! Thanks so much!

Allright, after taking into consideration all your great suggestions and cautions, I think we'll go freestanding for a paper towel holder and see how that goes.
While we're on the topic, what do you all suggest for toilet paper -- a free-standing holder to sit on the floor? Or?
Thanks again!

Depends on your bathroom layout. Ours was setup such that we had enough room to add a complete bathroom towel rack/ring set with TP holder. All mounted to the interiors walls with anchors and/or toggle bolts.
Some bathrooms are tighter than others.

X2 on the inside of a door. We mounted ours inside the cabinet under the sink.

This is what I used. It has a thin plastic track that you mount to the cabinet and then the holder slides into it. When it's time to go to the picnic table to eat, you slide it off and carry it out and it stands on end.
Simple, sweet, light and duel use (inside and out).

I mounted a folding paper towel holder to the ceiling of my pop-up next to the sink (opposite of the stove). Since the pop-up has a thin roof, I carefully drilled through the ceiling and slightly into the foam insulation space, making sure NOT to go all the way to the outer roof. Then I mounted the holder using the smallest metal drywall anchor available; the kind that the screw pulls down on the back side to expand the arms. The screws are way to long for the space, so I had to be very careful and modify the hardware some.
First, I used the original screw to start expanding the anchor arms in the hole. Then I backed the screw out and cut off about 1/4". Re-insert and continue expanding the arms. Backed it out again, cut another 1/4". Repeat about three times. Result is a solid anchor point and a screw that isn't too long and nowhere near penetrating through the space. When we close down the trailer, we remove the paper towel roll and fold the holder's arms. Been one of the best mods I've done. Also did the same thing for the folding "wardrobe" hanger bar.

I have installed two paper towel holders to the bottom of the cabinet. I use fender washers and thin nuts inside of the cabinet (yes . . . drill all the way through into the inside of the cabinet). I cut the screws off even with the nuts and then put some of this rubbery material you buy at Lowes or Home depot that can be used as shelf liner or under a rug to keep it from slipping over top of the nuts (a whole sheet lining that shelf).
In my new TT, I found the toilet paper holder in the medicine cabinet. They never installed it at the factory. I was able to screw into some of the wood that supports the back edge of a shelf in the entertainment center on the other side of the wall for the top screws of the holder. Since it was the bottom shelf and a closed off area (via access panel to get to the slide motor controller) underneath, I added more wood to the bottom of that so I had some wood to screw into at the bottom of the holder.
Another alternative is nutserts but requires some additional tooling:

Hi All.
X2. Sometimes this is the best way to go, when you really don't have enought wall space. And sometimes, a mounted Paper Topwel Holder gets in your way to often.
Used as a Portable Free Standing, you can move it to where ever you need it.
Works great for our needs. Gopod Luck. Happy Travels. Dan & Jill

put the paper towel rack and toliette paper holder wherever you want it. drill small holes just deep enough to get through the wallboard and then use larger diameter short length sheet metal screws to secure. it won't affect insulation or anything else. with the light weights of these items there won't be a problem.
