I am the original owner and the transmission has Transynd. It was serviced at 5,000 miles as originally recommended by Allison & Monaco. The confusion I have is the conflicting advice about when the next service is due. Two Allison techs at a Monaco rally told me that it was good for 100,000 miles and the info given on this site is that I am overdue. ??????????? The 5K service was for a single filter only. New filters have even done away with this change.
There is a time recommendation that you are over. In 2011 with 55K miles on my 04 HR CC recommended no more than 1 more year. So I was headed for a change.
It's probably best to service the tranny.

You should go by your Allison Operator's Manual. If you don't have one, you can find it HERE.
Hope this helps

The best thing to do is to have the fluid analyzed.
It may be that the fluid is still serviceable and does not need to be changed. Listen to the Allison techs and not the people on the internet.
On one of the diesel forums is the engineer that wrote the specs for Transynd and his recommendations are to have the fluid tested to see if it requires changing. The time frame done not necessarily apply to Transynd.

$350 sounds like a very good price to me. I had mine done about 3 months ago and the Transynd fluid alone was about $40 a gallon (5 gals.). FYI, I had the same question about time and mileage criteria for fluid and filters. Mine is a 2008. Called Allison customer service. Gave them my transmission serial number, and they looked it up. For my rig, 48 month time criteria pretty much drives the process. They also gave me the part number for a filter kit (about $60), that has everything you need in it for changing the two filters.

I'm curious... what does your manual state on this subject. My Allison 3000 requires 36 months for filters and 48 months for fluid....or 100,000 (or maybe 150,000...haven't looked at it for awhile) miles which ever comes first. Of course, I'll probably never see the mileage factor as I've only done 31,000 in five years.
I changed my own last year and the 19 qts (had to buy 5 gal) cost me $32/gal and the two filters were another $38. So, for having someone do the job for you, $350 isn't bad. However, doing your own is not that big of a deal.
Good luck..

This is the lab owned by the former Allison fluids engineer that was mentioned in a previous post. They sell an inexpensive pump for taking samples and the cost of sampling is ~$25 each if bought in a 3-pack.
Testing lab
There are plenty of other places who can the analysis. Whoever you use make sure you buy an analysis which provides the "Total Acid" number for your fluid because this is the key parameter with respect to understanding transmission fluid.
