All of this can be solved by just filling the water tank and be done with it...we fill ours before we leave for the weekend and dump any remaining water when we get back...

Love this product! Thanks for sharing. I'll get one ordered when I am back from our first trip this season.
Here's what I did this week. I timed how long it took to fill a 6 gal jug. 1 minute. So, I know how much goes in based on time.
For those wondering why any of us want to measure the amount of water.... I have a 100 gal fresh water tank. For a 2 day weekend trip I only need about 40 gal for the 2 of us. Why carry 60 extra gallons? And the tank meter on the trailer doesn't work half the time.

I'm sorry, water and fuel are things I carry in abundance. I've been to too many areas where the water supply has been interrupted for one reason or another. I've been stuck on I-10 in the middle of the desert several times for hours due to a rollover collision miles ahead. Im thinking if a couple hundred pounds has such an impact on my TV's performance maybe I need something else. I've never seen any negative impact in my rig in performance or mileage based upon the weight of the water I'm carrying. When I stop for fuel I don't calculate how much I need for the trip, I just fill the tank, cause you never know!

totally agree. we *never* travel with much less than a full tank of known-to-be-good fresh water cuz you just never know what you're gonna run into. we started doing that when we encountered a polluted water system at a campground in Carlsbad, NM many years ago. the extra 60-pounds of water that Larie doesn't want to carry represents 500-lbs of weight, a miniscule amount for the peace of mind a full tank represents...for us anyway.

...and if you have to worry about carrying an extra 500 - 1000 lbs then maybe its time to get an "adequate" tow vehicle so you can do what you want

I never carry any fresh water at all, because we camp at places with water & electric hook ups only; however, if you were going off road, like the OP mentioned, I could see not wanting the extra weight. I'm guessing at the off road, becuase he mentioned a 16% grade.

I can't believe anyone in their right mind would travel around with a full tank of water when 15 gallons is more than ample for a trip to the next campground.
I have a water meter similar, but has a hand and dial like a clock. Mine is fairly accurate on a high flow rate. Jack

Too each their own! It is great that you carry around 15 gals of water between camp grounds and that it works out for you! Some of us do it differently than that but we don't accuse those who don't do it our way as being not in their right minds!
By the way, just what are all of the horrible things that are happening to us who carry full tanks of water around? They must be really bad for us to be "not in our right minds"?
