I'm a first time fifth wheel owner and have some questions about insurance. Just bought one and now shopping for insurance and frankly need some sound advice from those who live in their rigs. I have read on here good things about Good Sam and GMAC.
What is the recommendation for insurance for living in a fifth wheel? I've been a USAA policy holder for 15 years for auto/home. Is any part of it covered while hooked up to tv?
Are there different types of policies for living in one, or is it similar to homeowner insurance?
I need to decide and purchase this week so any quick responses would be great. Thanks.

There's probably a sticky on this subject in the fulltimer area. Insurance is definitely different between fulltiming and recreational use. Be sure you specify that right at the start, whoever you talk to. You should also check into getting your truck ins from the same company since some will not insure it if it's not in the same zip code for x number of months per year.

I went through Millers too and they got me the best policy/price for being a fulltimer. They specialize in insurance for fulltime RVers

USAA uses Progressive for full-timers. I used RV America to do the search for the best price. And also Great American Assurance does searches.

Insurance differs based on you 'home' state, type of coverage, your age, driving record, credit report etc.
We FT and have a 'home owners' policy (same type for your stick/brick house) plus personal contents, medical, liability, custom items etc.
We use Explorer RV Agency with insurance thru National Interstate. They specializes in FT'rs. Good coverage/reasonable rates/good claim service.
Very easy to get a quote via internet.
