My last pair of 105s lasted 14 years and were not yet dead when I retired them. I would LOVE to see a contolled test on the two brands. My guess is Trojan would CRUSH them.

Glad to hear this. My 4, T-105's are only 6 years old and I was worried that I may be getting close to having to replace them. I paid just over $70 each for them. Haven't priced them lately but I have heard that they are much more expensive now.

I just happened to be in our local Costco the other day and wandered by the battery section. The shelf sticker on the GC2 golf cart batteries said amp hour capacity of 205AH, not the 225 commonly stated in the forum here. I must admit I didn't have time to really scrutinize the batteries themselves as the "boss" was in a hurry, but is it possible there are different versions of the Costco golf cart batteries out there with different capacities? I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on some new batts as my Interstate group 24's are shot. Just want to be sure I'm getting the best bang for the buck.

Thanks,
Dave

Trojan makes a great battery but Costco's is more intriguing so it’s pretty much a toss-up.

Hmmm. Must've changed manufacturers.

My take...

There's no free lunch. Given similar quality of construction, lower capacity per the same volume generally yields greater longevity.

But if you have the funds... and maximizing capacity in your allotted space is a priority (as it often is,) then you may want to consider another battery. I wouldn't go as far as the T-145s, though. Maybe the T-125s.

Cheers,
Kendall

You can often tell a rebranded battery by its AH. eg US Battery has its set of U-sizes which have AH like 208 and 232 ( Interstate uses these as do some others)

Another one is Exide which has their GC135 at 226 AH. Can Tire sells a 6v battery now rated at 226AH, which IMO means it is an Exide.

I picked up 4 new 6 volt batteries at Costco today. They have a completely new look this year, green top and clear case, looks like Interstate. The guy at Costco said they are made by Interstate.

What is their RC or AH? Might match the usual US Battery figures. (Interstate 6s made by US Battery)

They are suppose to be the same as the black cased one they had been selling. I asked if they were 220 ah and the guy I know at the tire center said yes they are.

I will check tomorrow but sound like they are just a different case.

Trojan used to make a GC battery with less than 200 amp hours, but the golf courses did not like them because they would not last a full day's rental. By the time they figured out the smaller capacity battery outlived in kWh its big brother by 30% and longer, Trojan stopped making them. 'Tis a funny business, battery building.

GC jars are all adequate these days as far as the sediment chamber is concerned. Wouldn't do at all to make a 120 amp hour GC battery with .250 plates. It would last 20-years. Those lithium gizmos are interesting, and you can bet your last Renminbi that the PLA is working 24/7 to flood the market with them. They are tapping Japanese and Korean engineers. Hope I live long enough to see it.

Where I am now, there is enough windpower in a 100 mile stretch of coastline to power Los Angeles about 14 hours out of the day.
