The rear furnace on our 2000 Pace Arrow Vision starts by itself. Tech has tried everything, talked to the Atwood people, and still can't solve problem. Put in new climate controller, put in new temp probes --- still the same problem. Anyone experience this?

if you have a heat pump in your air-conditioner and it is running to heat you unit and it can't keep up to heat your unit then the furnace should come on auto to bring your heat up to thermostat setting. At least thats what mine does.

Corrosion from water will cause this on the Ignition module. To confirm where the problem is is simple. Your so called tech should have done this at the beginning-----Disconnect the 2 Tstat wires at the furnace connection to remove the wall tstat and temp sensors from the system and then see if the furnace malfunctions. If it does, then the problem is in the furnace. Doug

You could have a bad thermostat wire. When a thermostat hits a certain temp it completes the circuit and starts the unit. I have seen cases where perfectly good thermostat but there was a bare spot in the stat wire completing the circuit somewhere and starting the unit on it's own. Unortunately you have to chase that down. The stat wires especially near the unit can get dry and the coating cracks thus creating a bare spot in the wire and allowing them to touch. Another thought might be the relay or board itself on the furnace. The newer ones can go bad and really wig out. My advice would be to have a tech check it out.

Is the switch for heat or A/C on the thermostat turned to "off"? If it is and you have already changed out the temp element and thermostat, I would start looking at the control relay that receives the signal from the t-stat to start the fan/burner. Contacts on the relay may be damaged. I've also seen solid state relays get leak-by as well with age, but those were on 250 VDC circuits.

I had a Monaco with the thermostat mounted on an outside wall. In the summer, condensation would form on the backside of the thermostat and cause the A/C to do all kinds of funny things. Relocated the thermo to an inside wall and stopped the problem. Might be something to look at.
