We are new RVers. Plan to purchase a new 34' Tiffin RED in a few weeks. Although we would like to pull a toad along with us, I am a disabled veteran and my wife is unable to hitch and unhitch the toad. We thought when we reach a campground, we would contact a rental car agency to rent a car to see local sights aand communities, rather than park and unpark our motorhome.

Do many camp grounds offer transportation to nearby attractions, and or do they have a rental car agency available? Just looking for altenative transportation once we reach our destination.

Anyone else in our situation?

Thanks

If you pick locations where there is an Enterprise Car Rental agency nearby, they will come pick you up and take you to their rental office, and drop you off again when you return the car. Off hand, I've not run into any campgrounds or parks that offer a rental car shuttle service.

X2 for Enterprise. We have used them frequently when we travel and have not had much of a problem finding an agency near where we want to camp.

X3 on enterprise. we used to rent frpm them from time to time before we started towing. most campgrounds, at least the ones we frequent, do *not* have a transportation desk or concierge. the other rental companies, as far as i know, will not pick you up and return you to the campground.

good luck.

It depends on where you are heading. When we went camping in New Orleans last year, the campground we stayed in offered a shuttle service that took us straight to the French Quarter and back to the campsite. I've yet to come across a campground that offers car rental in their front desk. But I'd agree with Enterprise. They are pretty much everywhere and it's not that difficult to find an office where you can rent a car near most campgrounds. At least, those that we have stayed in.

X4 On Enterprise. We don't have a toad as we pull a boat with us all summer to lakes in MN, but we do take one large cross coutry trip per year. We have gone to a different desitination each year for the last 8 years and usually try to hit a national park. We have always rented cars once we get to our destination. Used Enterprise about 95% of the time and yes they picked us up at the campground and did same for return. We did rent a car directly from the KOA near the Black Hills and used a different place near Rocky Mount National Park that was cheaper then Enterprise. We never had problems finding rentals at any of our desitations.

Have you seen how easy it is to hitch and unhitch a car set up like the setup in my signature. That is not the only one but I also have limited ability and it only takes me about 3-4 minutes alone.

Go with Enterprise as already said.
When we stayed at Las Vegas motorcoach resort last month they did have a deal with Enterprise where you could just leave the rental at the resort office and Enterprise would pick it up.

I've not seen a campground offer rental cars. Rental agencies are your best bet but aware that you may not find major companies in all areas of the country, especially in or near very small or rural towns. We have been to a major tourist town and found they had no rental car agency so do your research ahead of time.

We have done the several times in Arizona with NO problems. We would do it on a weekly rate. Get all our travels/shopping done and have them pick up the car. Usually cost about $220.
