I didn't pull my toad to the Outer Banks two years ago, thought I would rent local. The cost was nearly $50 per day. I didn't rent and never leave home without it again.

Get a neighbor to hook your toad and a fellow camper will unhook.

Week rental at Enterprise in Kill Devil Hills, 179.95 for seven days. Don't know where you looked, but that 50/day is way out of line.

Renting vs. towing may well be dependant on how long you're on the road. When we bought the MH and traded in our truck and TT I was forced into that decision very quickly. Yes, I used the ~$250.00/wk number but still it came up to shelling out close to $4000.00 in rental fees which were out the window with nothing to show for it.

I finally decided to buy an inexpensive but reliable toad that would tow easy and was simple/cheap to install the necessary stuff to make it towable.

Long story short, for less than 5K I got the toad, tow bar, brake assy, brackets, wiring, and everything. Now granted I could have spent 1K less by renting but now I, at least, have an asset to show for the expenditure.
