Hi all,

We are from Australia and have a 1999 Fleetwood Tioga Class C stored just north of LA (easy to get to for our trips over). During our last trip we noticed the rubber roof was deteriorating and we would like to reseal it. Here in Oz we have very few rubber roofs (mainly aluminium or fibreglass)so we have been searching the forum to find out what to use and how to do it - lots of info but a little hard to disseminate. The product "EPDM Liquid Rubber" seesm to be popular, but it cannot go on an Alpha rubber roof. There is also a product sold by Camping World called Dicor White Rubber Roof Acrylic Coating (from the description it sounds a little, well, toxic).

A few questions if we may:

- can anyone tell us if our roof is of the "Alpha" type? We have also sent an email to Fleetoood, but they are are going to take a few days to respond and they wanted the ID number - which we don't have here in Oz.
- is one of the above products better than the other in respect of preparation, application, and drying time?
- do we have to remove all of the existing sealant around the seams and vents before we apply the liquid, or can we just paint over the top of it?

We know this is an issue that comes up often on the forum but as we said it is a little hard for us to disseminate given we have a zero starting base of knowledge. Sorry for having to ask.

Anyway, thanks in advance if anyone can help.

regards.

Owen and Bev

If you have a alpha roof. You must use the primmer before you put on the liquid roof. I did it in december. No leaks. But you must work fast, I did not use a roller. Usea a 18" wide drywall trowel.

Im glad i found this thread! i just received a 4 gal. pail of Liquid roof, but did not realize until too late that the Alpha roofs are not a good match for this product. so now I have this pail and an Alpha roof! Yet you have used it, what was the name of the primer and can you tell me more about it?

Thanks,

Bob

Like I said I used it and no problem I did use 60 grit sand paper which gal container said to do it doesn't say anything about any primer. Funny thing I did as directions say and it works.
