Sorry - I can't think of any place I'd avoid more. I don't have the proper willpower to walk out of a place like that without another dog....

Ha! DW has been to two shelters in the last 5 years. We have two dogs. ;-)

ALWAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We are from Nova Scotia where i volunteered with our local shelter for 28 years and now am volunteering with the cat rescue orgamization,. We always like to go in and look and leave a donation. having 8 cats we KNOW we cant take another but I always get a fundraiser idea to take home and help out the animals here.

No because if I'm not looking to adopt I don't want to waste the time of the employees or volunteers. I don't want to get some poor desperate cat or dogs hopes up, then turn around and leave. I do walk past the cats for adoption at the Petcos and PetsMarts but don't interact with them for the same reason.
