I am looking at buying a Chev 2500 PU truck. I want mirrors that can be expanded by pulling them out to clear the trailer. The ones I have seen are taller than the width. My concern is do they cause blinds spots in normal driving. I would like expandable mirrors that I can still see over the top of. Any comments will be appreciated.

I bought a set of OEM style towing mirrors to replace the smaller powered tow mirrors that came with the towing package (2004). The vertical style you refer to does not cause blind spots, in fact because they include a convex secondary mirror you have added viewing area.

I've got the 1334-5034B ones, and they are great. SOO much better than the old regular mirrors w/extensions. There is a bit of shaking but nothing that is vomit inducing.

There are a few types on towing mirrors with tradeoffs. The OEM style like these cost the most and have block some view behind the mirrors themselves. I'm not sure how important that is. Clip/clamp on are cheaper, about $50/pair, but do not extend as far and have smaller mirror area. They can be removed for non-towing.

Anyone have experience with these vs GM parts from the dealer? There is quite a bit of price difference. I'm wanting to make this upgrade myself.

While I love my towing mirrors, they can hide vehicles coming toward you from the left or right, primarily the right, at intersections. You just have to be a little careful.

I had the shorter OEM towing mirrors on my 06 2500 bought them on ebay because they didn't make the taller one in nonpower for an 06. When I bought my '11 2500 I made the dealer swap the standard mirrors for the towing mirrors. I love them no blind spots only problem I have is I only have 1/2" of clearance on each of my garage door. Besides being great mirrors they look really cool too.

I've got the OEM camper mirrors. The best mirrors in my book. They do not cause blind spots for me.

I had to upgrade my 2008 to the OEM camper mirrors. I like them but can still feel the bite in the wallet.

I have the original small mirrors in my storage, I should sell them I guess.

I have used extensions on my Yukon which were ok. I have the OEM camping mirrors on my 3500 and I like them so far. The convex lower mirror helps a lot. Minor irritations are that the convex mirror is not power, and the pull out and fold in (for car wash etc) are manual as well. They are big and do block things behind them, but trade off is small to me.
