Hello folks:

I just received an E-mail from a lady in Parks Canada indicating that Frank Spence (Anml-341, see postings below) passed away from a heart attack last evening in Elliott Lake Ontario.

We have ran into Frank and Lucy numerous times when camping in northern Ontario, most recently we've seen them camp hosting in Pukaskwa NP.

Frank also spearheaded the efforts to recognize the POW camp at Neys provincial park, and he and Lucy published books on winter camping.

our condolences to Lucy and their family and friends.

Sorry to hear that, I remember his postings on the POW camps. He posted just a few days ago on another topic. RIP Frank.
BTW his handle was Anml_341.

So sorry to hear this sad news. We have met Frank and Lucy a few times; in fact they have been to our home for coffee and visit. He also writes regularly for a Canadian camping magazine.

He was a very knowledgeable and likeable person. Our sympathy goes out to Lucy and family.

Thank you for posting.

All the best to Lucy and the rest of Frank's family.

He was so reliable, a person you could count on to post logical, easy to follow points about so many parts of rving in Canada.

One of the sadder parts of aging is people you have never met but come to respect and even admire through reading their posts pass on and you realize one day that will also be your footnote.

Godspeed Frank; it's fair weather and full sails for you now.

Today is just the tomorrow you worried about yesterday!

I'm so sorry to hear this - it is clear to anyone that has spent time in the Canada/Alaska forum that the parks of Ontario have not had a greater ambassador than Frank - he and Lucy spent every year proving it over and over again - then sharing it with the rest of us.

Sincere condolences to Lucy, family and friends.
