I have a '10 Cyclone 3912. I checked the continuity of element. OK
Switch is on in heater bay.
110-volt illuminated switch on panel inside lights up...so I assume it is getting power. No shore power today, so didn't check at element for 110 volts. No hot water. Any ideas??? Thanks in advance.

What you are calling a 110 volt switch is most likely a 12 volt DC switch which trips a relay and supplies 110 AC to the water heater element. So just because the switch is lighted doesn't mean there is AC to the element.

This is a bad thought....but....are you sure you have water in the water heater???? Could it still be on winter by-pass?

Does it work on propane?

On our water heater the switch and light inside is for gas, the light only comes on when gas does not light or runs out of gas. The switch for electric operation is outside under the water heater cover behind the gas regulator (small black switch)with no lights for electric operation. We have a suburban gas/electric water heater. Check your gas if you have a light inside on.

Was there water in the tank when checking continuity? If so, its possible the water provided the path for your continuity reading.

Remove the element and if its burned out you'll certainly see it even before you can put a meter on it.

IF you even turned the electric element on for 6 - 8 seconds and had NO water in the tank, then you fried your electric element. You can get a new element at a place like Lowes.

IF heater not working on propane, first are you sure you even have water entering the tank? It's best to purge the air out of the gas lines before you attempt to light the heater. You can do this by lighting the burners on your cooktop for a minute or two. You should be able to hear the "burner" kick on to heat the water.

I drained mine for winter and neglected to refill. Plugged in to shore power to charge batteries and fried the element. The good news is it is easily replaced. FYI in our Cyclone the switch looks like an ordinary household wall switch and is separate from the Propane switch which is located on the control panel. It lights up red when on and your hooked up to shore power.

My old TH had an electric element with a switch next to it, nothing inside. I kept it off most of the time and only used it when I had hookups.

No 110v, no hot water from electric element.
What is the question?

on suburban hot water heaters there is a reset you can do, open the cover on the outside, there are two black buttons you push them both at the same time.
